The latest in American weapons technology, the Gatling Gun was used by Canadian troops against Louis Riel and his company of Plains Indians and Metis rebels at Batoche, Saskatchewan in July, 1885. Superior weaponry won the day. Chief Poundmaker was exonerated by PM Trudeau in 2019 for his role in the Rebellion

The troops were able to travel to Saskatchewan on the recently completed Canadian Pacific Railway.
