Large, round windows such as this one are known as “Roses.” The Archangel Michael led the loyal Angels in their battle with Satan and his fallen angel followers in their rebellion against God. (Genesis) The three largest and most important windows in the cathedral are of angels: the Roses in the East and West Transepts, and the large Assumption of Mary in the choir loft.
