In 1630, Claude de La Tour arrived at Fort St. Louis with an Anglo-Scottish expedition and tried unsuccessfully to induce his son Charles to surrender the last foothold of France in Acadia. Later, when the Scots at Port Royal became displeased with Claude, his son Charles offered him refuge near Fort St. Louis.
