Suggesting the worlds-within-worlds of Renaissance theology, God holds the sphere of the universe. Or is it simply the Earth? Both realms can be symbolized by a Cosmic sphere.

In the early 1600s, Galileo’s telescope would begin to reveal the solar system with its planets, and the vast array of star systems in the universe. But when the window was made in 1533, theologians still insisted that the Earth was the unique focus of God’s creation.
