The legendary Father Athol Murray founded Notre Dame College in Wilcox during the Depression. This wooden former Commercial Bank of Canada was probably the best building in town at that time.
Pere’s office included the walk-in bank vault. The relief carving mounted on the front of the building was part of Pere’s eclectic collection of art, in this case a casting from the Parthenon in Athens. Please also SEE “Tower of God” in Towns South.
