The Metropolitan United Church at 8307 109 Street NW in Edmonton, was completed in 1943 to replace the Old Strathcona church that burned on New Year’s Day 1942.

Twenty-nine years later, in 1972, the Metropolitan United Church and Knox Church congregations amalgamated to form Knox-Metropolitan United Church. In November of 2015, the Knox-Metropolitan United congregation became part of the United on Whyte Pastoral Charge. The new parish is comprised of four south Edmonton United Church congregations coming together with a vision to create a new vibrant, sustainable and relevant United Church presence, using a shared building on Whyte Avenue.

Knox-Metropolitan’s final worship service was held June 26, 2016.
